Listen to What Hugh Masekela Has to Say
If you assumed, like I did, that a 25 minute radio interview broken up into three parts of Hugh Masekela with the Minister Robert Muhamad would garner at least 200 views … well, you’d be wrong. This is Hugh Masekela, people! He was featured in MONTEREY POP! He deserves your respect! (128 views) (152 views) (140 views)

The UnderViewed is back in action. To get things re-started, let’s check out what’s happening at the Plaistow Town Hall. I keep expecting Leslie Knope to appear somewhere. 97 views

Baby Bear Film Critic
This bear does not give a favorable review to Where the Wild Things Are. The bigger question is: why do these people own a baby bear? And the more important question than that: where can I get one? Side note: that is one enormous cat. It’s unfortunate we don’t get to see it fight the bear. That would have been epic. (87 views)

The Greatest Love of All. . .
Is that between a young Asian woman and an older man in a home-made tank top, jean shorts, and handlebar mustache. A classic love story. Wow. You can just feel the chemistry for this couple: they just look perfect and absolutely right for each other and will “cheerish” each other FOREVER. A lot of love went into making this video. You can tell by the amount of star wipes—actual...

Mario Bros. Vs. Anthony Keidis
With a little OKGO, Star Wars, Lion King, nuclear annihilation, carousel music and Jimmy Kimmel Live nut-kicking thrown in. Makes even less sense after you watch it. And remember: Joints are not what they used to be. (180 views)

Mr. Wrong's Got it Going On
You must watch this music video. How this hasn’t blown up yet, I don’t know. It’s got everything you need: funny lyrics, dancing girls, a twist ending. It’s a home run. (55 views)

Greatest Non-Sequitur Music Video of All Time
And I don’t think there’s any remotely close 2nd for that title. My favorite moments: the club girl falling off the stage; the dancing grandma; the monkey getting spooked by its reflection; and especially the guy peeing on the frozen lake. Kanye wouldn’t interrupt if this won. (131 views)

Advance Your Career with Millipore
Everything about this video — the company name, the range of accents, the generic-looking footage of people working — makes me think Millipore is a fake corporation that’s going to play an important role in the next James Bond film.  But hey, they’re hiring. Plenty of openings for henchmen and cronies. (109 views)

The Ho Chi Minh City Motor Speedway
No, this isn’t the start of a Vietnamese 10K BMX Race for the Cure, it’s just your standard minute-long green light. Favorite part: check out the guy in the white shirt playing a successful game of real-life Frogger. Successful in that he didn’t kill himself. Kept his cool like Obama. (169 views)

Zombie Lobster?
A lobster that looks cooked but isn’t. Could this be the start of an invasion of uncooked crustaceans? Side note: I’ve never seen a lobster that looks so much like a comic book character before; he would definitely play Hellboy in the oceanic adaptation.   (156 views)

Cookies n' Creme: An Emo Love Story
Like the classic silent pictures of yore, this budding filmmaker takes us on a remarkable journey of love and loss, violence and reconciliation, using no words, just pop punk songs. He really loves that Hershey’s bar. I was hoping he would delve into the reasons for stomping on it, but I guess I’ll have to wait for a Film Studies major to write a dissertation on it. Or the DVD...

. . . And We're Back!
After a couple week hiatus due to family, Peace Corps and Macedonia-related reasons, The UnderViewed is back to find you the smallest needles in the YouTube needle-stack. Here’s a Russian Mel Brooks-Ed McMahon hybrid discussing politics. Quite professional for being so nonsensical. Between the accent and the editing and the glasses, I can’t really follow what he’s saying, so...

Follow the Bouncing Ball
A decent little video. High schoolers trying to impress the ladies with their mad editing skills. Because high school girls love video editors. Actually, editors are the bassists of the filmmaking process—they’re a lot more important than the general public may realize. But at the moment, these guys are more Cone McCaslin than John Entwistle. (47 views)

When you’re away from your family during the holidays, it can get very lonely. What better way to overcome the gripping depression than by making a video for your relatives? … but it probably won’t be. Actually, scratch that. It DEFINITELY won’t be. Not with that wimpy serve.  Appreciate the message though. Side note: I love the international use of “Sport” singular, instead of “sports” plural. Either way, it’s no doubt “the road to the future”. (50 views)

The Next Seinfeld
This guy’s a natural; destined for comedy greatness. You can just feel the genius sweating out of his pores. Perhaps he’ll even surpass Milton Berle in the reputation department. The only thing he actually has in common with Seinfeld is that he stole the music from the show; which, sadly, was the most entertaining aspect of the routine. A C- for effort though. (88 views)

Citizen Journalism at its Finest
Whose car is that? THAT is a legitimate question. This woman is just doing her duty as a neighbor and citizen to figure out what kind of crazy person would drive that car, with all that stuff in it. That is a LOT of crap. It’s just too bad she didn’t get him or her on camera. Oh well, just another wannabe Blair Witch Project. (52 views)

Kalle Wearing Only a Bandana
Our first double-dip of a post presents Kalle, looking great in nothing but a bandana. Fits her well, even if she’s trying desperately to get it off. Side note: unsurprisingly, it is quite difficult to find puppy clips with less than 100,000 views. But we persevere and succeed. (126 views) And playing with her water bowl. When the Camel Breaks
What a lovely looking family enjoying a nice little camel ride in Giza, Egypt. More importantly, though, is the soundtrack; that’s actually a pretty good cover of Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks” by Yat Kha. Kind of Tom Waitsian with a dijeridoo and a northern-African sound. Side note: this video was obviously taken before the Decepticons arrived and destroyed the...

Get yourself a steel door and within mere minutes you’ll be able to go from inside your house to outside, or from outside your house to inside.  Just turn the key between 7 and 137 times to get it unlocked then pull with all your might, and if you’re strong enough you’ll be able to walk on through. Lots of "Enthusiasm"(!) for the NYCYJP
New York City’s Young Jewish Professionals love three things: 1. Curb Your Enthusiasm 2. Copywright infringement 3. Passover And they’ve managed to combine all their loves into one fancy invitation to join them for Passover Seder. My guess is, it didn’t do so much to help. Good Yontif. (41 views)

Four Corners of Chipmunk Song Torture
I was loving this song, and the foursquare video of the guy singing it, until they had to go and ruin it by showing 5 seconds of a random hot girl holding a camera. Fast forwarding a song so it sounds like the Chipmunks are singing it is an easy and proven way to make any video you post popular and respected. (159 views)

Fun with Scientologists
And Final Cut Pro. If it weren’t for the title Gobbledygook, I’d really have no idea if this was for or against Scientology. Not the reaction you want if you’re making a satire or trying to take down a powerful, if controversial, religion. (135 views)

THE ANNALS OF ADVENTURE: THE BIG RACE My review: The set-up really got me excited, a lot of action and suspense through out, but what a let-down in the end. I get all invested in the story, this big race pitting friend against friend, only for there to be a twist. I won’t spoil it for you, but it may blow your minds. And on the “lacking believability scale, there’s no way the...

Creepy Floating Burping Head Man

Wicked Party, Dudes!
Everybody’s getting laid tonight! Woo hoo! Shots! Red Sox! Dave Matthews Band!  What else could you ask for or expect from what looks to be a frat party in New England?
